We have been asked multiple times whether the company’s name is Forty2 or Forty².
Here is the full story…The name of the company is Forty2 (42). Some might have guessed that it comes from Douglas Adams’s The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
📙 A story, where a super computer called “Deep Thought” had been built by its creators to give the answer to the "Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything", which, after eons of calculations, was given simply as "42".
However, the original name does not come from the book – well, indirectly. Our Founder and CEO had a professor at university – a genius. He loved mathematics and had a very intuitive way to teach his students the world of numbers. As exams were getting closer, he asked his students to come to the campus and to bring all their materials with them.
The objective was: to do math exercises all night long under his guidance with no time pressure. And by the end of the night, he will reveal the results of the exam
Which Math teacher would do that?
Same as the Supercomputer, that asked the people to gather at that day when it finishes the calculation to answer the “Ultimate Question of Life”, so did the professor.
Now, imagine you are sitting in that exam, and you have a full page of numbers. Reaching the last step, you type in your calculator the final formula - it shows the result: 0.42 🎯
